A little about me...

I’m Christabel — a storyteller and creative strategist with a background that blends business, media production, and cross-cultural experience. I graduated with a Business degree from NTU and a Diploma in Film, Sound & Video from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where I trained in scriptwriting, directing, editing, cinematography, sound design, and TV production.

Outside of school, I’ve been active in content creating — producing digital content, performing and directing dance videos, and founding Red Spark, a multicultural dance busking team in Seoul with a YouTube channel of 140K+ subscribers. My work spans ideation, filming, editing, narrative development, and writing captions and video descriptions.

Professionally, I’ve worked across media, consulting, and technology. At Mediacorp’s Celebrity Agency, I produced end-to-end social media content, including a YouTube video that reached 272K+ views. At PwC, I created communication materials that helped contribute to a 20% increase in engagement for the Global People Survey.

In my current role at HP, I write and design strategic content for customer experiences — from narrative-driven product demos to visit agendas and promotional materials. These efforts supported the Customer Welcome Center’s influence of over USD $615M in sales opportunities in FY25 (across three quarters).

Fluent in English, Chinese, and Korean, with 15+ years of Korean media immersion and over a year living in Seoul, I bring cultural fluency, creativity, and strong storytelling instincts to every project.

Films Produced in Polytechnic (NP FSV)

Here are majority of the films that I worked on during my Film, Sound & Video coursework

I deliberately took on different roles in each project to gain a comprehensive understanding of various responsibilities and to discover which roles align best with my skills and interests.

Director & Editor, Directing Module - Acceptance (2020)

Acceptance - Over dinner, long-buried grief resurfaces when a father clings to the memory of a mother who is no longer there, pushing him and his son into conflict.

This project was my final assignment for the Year 3 Directing module. With only one prior directing experience, it challenged me to deepen my understanding of visual storytelling and actor direction. Designing the camera blocking was particularly complex due to the presence of an imaginary character (“Mother”), which required careful planning to maintain narrative clarity. To guide my actors effectively, I recorded reference performances at home to experiment with tone and emotional delivery.

Post-production also presented obstacles, especially in cleaning dialogue tracks affected by construction noise. Despite the challenges, the project was an invaluable learning experience, made enjoyable by the dedication and camaraderie of my small but supportive crew.

Director, Advanced Film Production - CUT! (2020)

CUT! - A short-fused, wildly unprepared director tries—and fails—to guide two actors through a straightforward breakup scene that quickly spirals out of control.

It was my first experience directing a short film and my first attempt at the comedy genre—made even more challenging as it was a one-take production.

The shoot presented several unexpected obstacles. On the day of filming, a new bench was installed, requiring quick adjustments to the camera blocking. We also had to manage curious tourists to minimize noise, while contending with passing vehicles and distant bell chimes.

Despite multiple takes to perfect the one-shot sequence, the team maintained high spirits and even wrapped earlier than anticipated. The project was both memorable and enriching for everyone involved.

Director, Documentary Production - Warriors for the Good (2019)

This project marked my directing debut and my first experience working in the documentary format. Although it differed significantly from the narrative films I typically produced, it still required a strong overarching story and a clear purpose—to raise awareness about the subject featured. Through this project, I gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of “capturing the moment,” a principle that is especially vital in documentary filmmaking. I thoroughly enjoyed the process, and it affirmed my personal preference for reality-based, unscripted content over traditional narrative work.

Editor, TV Production - Director's Cut trailer (2018)

This individual assignment for the TV Production module involved creating a personal trailer from footage shot collectively by the class. I applied my editing skills and storytelling sensibilities to craft a cohesive and compelling narrative from shared material, demonstrating my ability to shape story and pacing through post-production.

Doubled up a few roles, Advanced Film Production Module Final Project - Show Me MV (2020)

In this project, I took on multiple roles on set, including Location Manager, Wardrobe Manager, Behind-the-Scenes Coordinator, and Production Assistant. This was our first official foray into music video production, a departure from the typical narrative films we create in FSV. Given the nonlinear storytelling typical of music videos, careful shot planning was essential. We also experimented with innovative content ideas and editing techniques, such as split-screen effects, to enhance the visual narrative and overall impact of the video.

Colourist, Editing Module - Interview #4 (2020)

This project was a video coloring assignment for my Year 3 Editing module, focused on mastering DaVinci Resolve. Previously, I had only used Premiere Pro for color adjustments, often relying on trial and error without fully understanding the tools. Through this assignment, I gained a deeper knowledge of color grading functions, enabling me to intentionally manipulate visuals to achieve the precise look and mood I envisioned.

Editor, Editing Module - In Loving Memory OF (2020)

Edited and color graded by me. For one of our final projects in the Editing module, I was tasked with editing and color grading a short film produced by my classmates, applying narrative pacing, visual continuity, and color correction techniques to enhance the overall storytelling.

Editor, Editing Assignment - Pee Mak TV Promo Trailer (2019)

This project was part of our Year 3 Editing assignments. We studied the film Pee Mak and were tasked with creating a trailer. Editing a trailer presented a unique challenge, as it required non-linear storytelling and careful selection of footage to maintain suspense without revealing key plot points. This exercise allowed me to develop trailer-specific editing skills and deepen my understanding of pacing, narrative tension, and audience engagement.

Editor, Editing Assignment - Waiting Tables (2019)

This Year 2 Editing assignment involved working with raw video and audio footage from a short film. I was responsible for manually syncing the audio and assembling the footage into a cohesive edit, honing my skills in precision editing, timing, and narrative flow.

Editor, Editing Assignment - Car Thief (2018)

This Year 2 editing assignment involved working with silent raw footage, which I had to assemble into a cohesive sequence. Through this project, I developed a practical understanding of parallel editing techniques and learned how to effectively construct multiple simultaneous storylines within a scene.

Editor, Editing Assignment - Pranks (2019)

This Year 2 editing assignment involved working with raw footage, which I assembled independently, strengthening my skills in storytelling, pacing, and visual continuity.

Sound Designer, Sound Design Module - DBS Sparks (2019)

no audio. I was tasked with adding sound effects, music, and dialogue to bring the film to life. Through this project, I gained a deep appreciation for the critical role of sound in storytelling and the challenge of making added audio feel natural and realistic. Even the smallest details required careful consideration to maintain authenticity and enhance the overall viewing experience.

Sound Recordist, Intermediate Filmmaking Module - Liaison (2018)

Liaison - Inspired by In the Mood for Love, two colleagues slowly discover that their spouses are cheating on them—with each other.

This assignment for my Intermediate Filmmaking module involved reinterpreting a script from In the Mood for Love in any way our group chose. I served as the Location Sound Recordist, responsible for capturing high-quality audio during the shoot. This role required full attention to detail, as any unwanted noise could compromise a take, necessitating reshoots regardless of the actors’ performances. Through this project, I gained a deeper appreciation for the critical role of sound in filmmaking and its impact on the overall storytelling experience.

Director of photography, Introduction to Filmmaking - Undying Hope (2018)

This project served as the final assignment for our Introduction to Filmmaking module, where I took on the role of Director of Photography, responsible for shaping the visual style, camera work, and overall cinematography of the film.

VFX, VFX Module Project  - Assassin of HYDRA (2018)

This was a group VFX project completed with two classmates for our VFX module. We were provided with initial footage, such as the gunman, and were responsible for shooting additional elements, including backgrounds and targets. The footage was then divided into three segments for individual VFX work. This project provided hands-on experience in visual effects creation, highlighting the technical challenges and precision required to achieve realistic results. I also benefited from guided mentorship, which helped me develop both skill and confidence in VFX techniques.

Pitbull - Timber ft Ke$ha Student Parody MV (2017)

This project, completed for our Location Filmmaking module in Year 1, was an engaging and collaborative experience. I performed the role of Ke$ha and also contributed to the development of creative content ideas, helping shape the overall direction and execution of the project.

Producer, Location filmmaking module [Final project] - Black Widow (2017)

This was the final project for my Year 1 Location Filmmaking module at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, where I challenged myself by taking on the role of Producer, overseeing the project’s planning, coordination, and overall execution.

Editor, Location Filmmaking module [321 Project] - The Big Break (2017)

321—representing 3 pages of script, 2 characters, and 1 location—was our first official short film produced in FSV. This project marked my debut in editing a 4-minute short film, having previously worked only on very short clips. Through this experience, I developed new editing skills, deepened my understanding of the filmmaking process, and was nominated for the Best Editor award for the module.

Mediacorp Internship, 2019

Role: Social Media Manager at The Celebrity Agency (TCA) department

I completed my internship at Mediacorp from 11 March 2019 to 9 August 2019 as part of my Year 3 FSV Internship module. During this period, I gained hands-on experience in filming, editing, content planning, and social media management. My responsibilities included:

  • Filming social media content, audition tapes, and behind-the-scenes coverage of events such as the Star Awards, magazine shoots, and IG/FB livestreams.

  • Editing content for social media platforms and artists’ showreels.

  • Planning and coordinating events, including the You Can Say No campaign.

  • Brainstorming creative content ideas, translating synopses and subtitles from Chinese to English, and updating TCA’s YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook platforms.

  • Covering high-profile events and media activities, including collaborations with brands such as Kate Spade and Prada.

This experience exposed me to entertainment and reality content production, which differed greatly from my narrative film work in school. It strengthened my ability to manage social media platforms, adapt to resource constraints, and focus on impactful content. I also honed my collaboration skills and professional work ethics, learning to turn challenges into opportunities while building strong relationships with colleagues.

Dancer, Performer

I started dancing at the age of 6, and I love entertaining.

I have always been passionate about the performing arts, including dancing, singing, acting, comedy, and modeling. I enjoy channeling my energy and creativity to engage and entertain audiences, and my ultimate goal is to become a well-rounded entertainer.

I am currently a member of two dance teams: MonsterG (Singapore) and Red Spark (Seoul, Korea). Since Polytechnic, I have traveled to Seoul almost every school holiday to study Korean and perform busking. With Red Spark—a multicultural dance team I founded in 2017—I have performed on the popular streets of Hongdae and developed a strong digital presence, managing an Instagram account with over 17,100 followers and a YouTube channel with more than 140,000 subscribers.

I performed as a dancer in this video and handled the editing, enhancing the footage to make it more engaging and entertaining for viewers.

[RED SPARK] 2019 K-POP INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION//FINAL ROUND 2nd PLACE

I competed with Red Spark in a dance competition in Korea, achieving 2nd place despite only having two days to prepare. I took a leadership role in the team, teaching choreography, assigning positions and transitions, coordinating group rehearsals, planning practice schedules, and liaising with the organizers. This competition was subsequently featured on a Korean television broadcast, highlighting our performance.
